If God created the universe is He outside it?

When someone reads my column and then links to it, I often get what is called a “ping.”   A ping is created by many websites, blogs, and news organizations when they create a link.  The ping arrives as a comment for the particular story and tells me where to find the other end of the link.   That allows me to see what others are saying about my columns and perhaps could lead to a dialogue between us or to a common bond.   Most of the time it is from like-minded believers who are commenting in their own column or blog about something I wrote.  Sometimes it is one of their readers that have put up a link in a comment to help  make a point to the author.

One of these links led me to a devout atheist whose reader pointed to my vision “God Partially Revealed”  in response to that author’s comment that “If God created the Universe, then He must be outside of it.  That proves that God doesn’t exist because nothing can be outside of the Universe since the Universe by definition includes everything.”  (As an aside, I’ve noticed that atheists are pretty careful to use upper case G for God and H for He – Just in case?).   The atheist considered his statement pretty profound and unanswerable by believers.   Anyway, the comment by the atheist’s reader brought me a number of readers and no ugly comments, so I was appreciative.

The vision, “God Partially Revealed” and the following column “Where is God? Who What Where How?” explain it (to me) pretty well, but I thought I would talk about the atheist’s comment a little here.

The vision clearly shows that God is everywhere at once since the entire Universe is within Him and His being filters through every atom of the Universe.   Does the atheist have a point that God could not have created the Universe because to do so would put Him outside of the Universe?   The implication is that He can’t be outside of something that includes everything, therefore our belief must be false.

An easy answer is to say “He can do anything He wants to do.”   The latter implies that He can make a stone He can’t lift and then decide to do it anyway.  I agree with that.  Nothing we can write or say or dredge up in literature or the Bible can put any kind of limit of what God can do.  Nothing.   All powerful, He fuels the Universe.

Nor can my feeble interpretation of my visions give any real explanation or proof of what God is or can do or how He operates.   He is always in charge and can do or not do as He pleases.   He defines truth and good.  I would not try to impose my belief on you, gentle reader, nor would I want you to try to change me.   What I can do is report what I have seen and what I derived from it.

My real answer is at the bottom, but I want to say first that God did create the Universe in what physicists call a “big bang” and so he predates the Universe and now the Universe resides in Him.   The problem for the atheist is a lack of understanding of who and what God is and where He resides.   He is timeless and so is heaven and so are our souls as explained to me in the vision of Crossing Over – Timeless Heaven.

Taken together the two visions, “God Partially Revealed” and “Crossing Over – Timeless Heaven” reveal to me that God’s territory is a timeless place that we living cannot see, cannot detect, cannot fathom until we cross over at our earthly death.   It is like a parallel Universe, one that is both outside our own and within it at the same time.

Unwittingly, physicists are talking more and more about multiple universes and the current fad of “string theory” lead them to believe that these parallel universes exist.  They have already universally adopted the “big bang” theory which mimics the Biblical version that God created everything out of nothing and hope the string theory or M theory or some other deriviative will take them to the “theory of everything”.

How strange for the physicists, but we knew about at least one other Universe all along, except we thought Heaven was “up there” maybe in the clouds.   Believers everywhere believe there is a heaven and that God is there and we will go there when we die.   My visions reveal that God is everywhere and when we say God is timeless, we mean it and it is a fact.  When we say He knew us from the beginning, He actually did because we were there too as part of our timeless souls in Heaven.    Heaven is not “up there” but is actually a timeless place parallel to ours.  It is all around us and we can’t detect it, but it is real.

So God can create the Universe – our Universe – from outside of it and be outside of it even now but inside of it as well.   Why?  Because His Universe is the Universe of Heaven which is different from ours and is timeless, much like the photons in my physics blog “Quantum Weirdness“.  (Quantum Weirdness is based entirely on insights and words of knowledge gained from my visions but explained in a purely scientific way).    Any reader with a scientific interest may want to read the “Does Time Exist?” column there after reading the Changing Over – Timeless Heaven and also “Are you and I already in Heaven?” columns here.

Confused?   Not as confused as the atheist’s comment.

My answer to the atheist’s comment:

God’s universe and our Universe are two different universes so He can be both outside of this Universe and inside of it.   Just the same, God is our Universe’s creator and He is in possession and control of it.   All we know of His other universe, the one we call Heaven, is what the Bible tells us and what God’s gift of visions to ordinary people like me tell us.

Are you and I already in heaven?

There is reason for me to believe that we live in a parallel universe right now.   Yes, one of those universes that the scientists talk about in purely scientific terms.  We exist there now with our same memories and personalities (although possibly much more mellow), but in a timeless place where we are free to move back and forth in what to us is time.   In that place everything that has already happened, or will ever happen in our present or natural universe is available to all the inhabitants of the other universe.

The inhabitants of that other universe just don’t have the same ability that we have to change anything in our universe (the one we live in now) as they go along.  But they can visit our past, our present, and our future at will.   That place is called Heaven by us, and the only “catch” as we would characterize it is that everyone is already dead, risen again and with the Father.   You, I, everyone we know, all our individual ancestors and all our children, and all their descendants are already there.   And we are still stuck here.  Thankfully, it is temporary and we will then cross over the veil into that other universe – to Heaven.

This concept is all based on one of the most interesting visions I’ve had, a revelation on the nature of Heaven and of our spirits.  It is the brief one the evening after my father died.   I called it the Vision of Crossing Over – Timeless Heaven. In it a voice, presumably from an angel, told me this about my father who had died earlier in the day:

“Take comfort!  The Spirit and Heaven, like God, are timeless and have no beginning and no end.  Your father has not gone to the present Heaven, but to the future Heaven!   You and your descendants, as well as your ancestors, are all there to greet him!”

Do you understand what that really means?   Most of us can fathom the concept that “God is timeless” – capable of moving back and forth in time, that “He knew us from the beginning” and planned and “created us from the first day of creation”.   In other words, timelessness is a special attribute that we associate with God.   Yet when we hear that God has known us from the beginning of creation, we just take it for granted that He is able to do that.   He planned us and when we would be born, live and die.   Now the timeless spirit word from the angel tells us that we were actually present at the beginning too – the spirit is “timeless and have no beginning and no end” – confirmation of what we have been told.

The voice told me that our spirit and the Heaven that we go to are both timeless.   A timeless heaven and a timeless spirit (our spirit) resolves the conflict between the idea of Revelations 20 whereby we are all resurrected together and the idea that we hope is true – that we are taken immediately to Heaven.  If Heaven and our spirits are timeless, then we both go immediately (one at a time) and at the same instant arrive together.   Jesus told the criminal on the cross:

…”Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise” Luke 23:43

This criminal went straight to Heaven, but we thought perhaps it was a special case.  This timeless Heaven, timeless spirit revelation resolves the quandary I hear all the time.   “I’m sure that my Mother is in heaven, but I’ve also been told that we rise together at the end of 1000 years – at the end times.   When do we go?  Is she there already or not?”

They both are true, because in Heaven all times are the same time.   She dies well before you, rises immediately (at the instant of death) at the end times and is greeted by you and all your ancestors and your descendants who also arise at that same instant.   She can look down on you at any time she chooses, and so can you.

What a concept!  What a revelation!    Heaven’s inhabitants can visit any of our natural times at any time their spiritual bodies wish.   We arrive together but it is instantaneous upon our death, which may be many years apart as we measure it, but is the same instant as God, Heaven, and the Spirit measure it.

In this parallel universe of a timeless Heaven, we can move back and forth in time, visit with ancestors and visit situations with our descendants.  We likely won’t be concerned with what is happening because we already know the outcome and are already with whoever we were visiting with.   I can’t see any reason for this visiting except as a chance to smile and say:  “Now look how worried you were!  And now you know it was all for nothing!” or just to review and witness how our families developed.

Ever had a déjà vu moment?  The experience of déjà vu seems to be very common; in formal studies 70% of people report having experienced it at least once.   Déjà vu has been described as “remembering the future.”   Perhaps our own spirit, already in Heaven, has given us a quick glimpse of this moment and we did not realize it.   Ever had an inspiration that seemed to come out of the blue?   An idea, a solution, a thought that you did not understand how it popped into your head?   Perhaps an ancestor, descendant, or self was present.

Parallel universe – or Heaven!  What do you think?  I think Heaven is all around us, not just “up there”!

For the scientists and physicists:

Those of you with a scientific curiosity and mind may want to check out how I’ve presented this timeless concept to the physics world:   Does time exist?  What I’m really talking about there is the realm of photons – light.  It was inspired by the vision mentioned above.   God is the light, Jesus is the light of the world.   If this parallel universe we call Heaven is timeless, perhaps it exists in the same universe that photons – light – does.   It makes sense to me.  It tells me where Heaven really is, not necessarily up there, but all around us – we just can’t see it – yet!  This other presentation is purely scientific.  You and I know the rest of the story.

Yes, science and religion can co-exist.

Vision of The Fifth Angel

The Fifth Angel?

Tuesday, December 31, 1997 Last day of year

It was about 3:00 A.M. on Tuesday morning and I had spent considerable time on the computer.   After shutting it down, I had gone directly to bed, and prayed briefly after I laid down.

The Giant Angel?

Soon after my prayers were ended, I began to notice something moving in the darkness of my closed eyes. It was much like a giant man standing very close, leaning somewhat to the right.

He was too big and too close to see him completely, and not well defined in the darkness. I wasn’t exactly sure of what I saw as I tried to look him up and down.

The fifth angel sounded his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth. The star was given the key to the shaft of the Abyss. When he opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from a gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss. And out of the smoke locusts came down upon the earth and were given power like that of scorpions of the earth.  Rev 9:1-3 (NIV)

I don’t know if this was an actual angel.  If it was, he was massive, with huge muscular arms, bulging with muscles all over the shoulders, neck and anywhere you looked. I am not certain if he had wings or not, because this was a very dark image highlighted only around the edges. However, I had the distinct impressions that there were wings.  I did not see or hear a trumpet.

Marching Troops.

They had tails and stings like scorpions, and in their tails they had power to torment people for five months. Rev 9:10 (NIV)

The scene changed abruptly to one in which there was a sort of broad roadway filled with marching figures. I could not hear their footsteps, but they were all swaying exactly in unison as they marched forward toward me.

These figures were pitch-black silhouettes against a lighter gray background of the road and a slightly lighter gray skyline. The heads of the figures had the outline similar to the “Darth Vader” of the movies.

They were all uniform in size and uniform in their outline, and were marching in a lock step, swaying very noticeably as they moved, almost an exaggerated motion.

These troops had canisters and hoses attached to their backs, and I had the impression that these were chemical weapons.

Were these chemical weapons with hoses running from the backs the locusts with stinging tails that had the power to torment people for 5 months that John saw as in Rev 5:10 above?

The Ward.

They were not given power to kill them, but only to torture them for five months. And the agony they suffered was like that of the sting of a scorpion when it strikes a man. During those days men will seek death, but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them.  Rev 9:5-6 (NIV)

Soon the scene changed to a massive room that was evidently a makeshift hospital ward. There was pandemonium as people dressed in blue-green uniforms were being carried into the ward in huge numbers. Soon every cot was filled with people and the aisles were filled also. There was virtually standing room only as people were being attended to by those few standing.

The entire scene was simply one of confusion. People were being brought in on stretchers at first and moved to beds/cots, and as the place filled up, they simply moved around as if looking for an empty place, finally setting them down on the floor.

My entire field of view was filled with these people, some standing, some lying down in rows that were the original beds, some lying down in the spaces between the rows.

The Dragon.

Men worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, “Who is like the beast? Who can make war against him?” The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise his authority for forty-two months. He opened his mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven. He was given power to make war against the saints and to conquer them. And he was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation. Rev 13:4-7 (NIV)

The ward room disappeared and was replaced by a large, and well-defined silhouette of a dragon.

This dragon first appeared as a smaller red splash in my field of view, perhaps the size of a penny at arms length, that kept moving around. As I looked, the outline of the dragon’s head formed around the red splash. The dragon’s mouth was open and the red area became the inside of the mouth. I could see the full outline of the dragon’s body and tail as it stood almost erect.

As I continued to look at the dragon, the red area continued to move and then I realized that the red area was the dragon’s tongue and the tongue was shaped like a miniature red dragon, complete with head and body, but the tail of the smaller red dragon was attached inside the mouth of the larger dark dragon, apparently the root of the tongue.   The dragon marched toward me and was quite large, covering the entire road, prancing on its hind legs and tail, swinging its massive head from one side of the road to the other.   The road was lined with what appeared to be worshipers.

The vision ended at that point.

I did not write this down until nearly 6PM of the following night. I added this comment because I can still see the images very clearly after sleeping all night and being active all day. Like my other visions, I have not lost any of the details as I normally would, had I been dreaming.

Note: after 10 years the visions are still as strong as ever.

It occurs to me that the Dragon had multiple heads, but not heads sprouting out of necks connected together as you would expect.  The heads were actually heads within heads as the mouth of each dragon had a tongue shaped like another dragon, and that smaller dragon had a mouth with a tongue also shaped like a dragon. I wonder if this is the way John also saw them.

In addition to the visions that I had before I went to sleep, I also had a dream during the night in which I repeatedly saw two names. Although I woke up once and almost wrote the names down, I decided to wait until morning. I did not remember the names, nor their significance when I woke up, but the earlier vision remained crystal clear and is clear today.

Now almost a year later, as I review this vision in my mind, the entire vision is clear, but the separate dream is completely gone – I don’t remember the dream at all.  And again 9 and 1/2 years later, it is still vivid.

These have been the visions of one ordinary person.  The visions stopped as suddenly as they started.   There have been a few other visions that I’ve not posted for one reason or another.

Over the years I’ve collected a number of visions that others have received, all members of my own church or friends.   If you ask around, you will be suprised at how many ordinary people that you know will admit to have had a vision.   I’ll revisit my freinds and post here any that they say that I can.

I plan now to post some insights similar to the “Does God Change His Mind?”  that I’ve derived from these visions.  I will also post any visions that appear genuine that my readers send in.

Thank you for visiting my site.   If you are a new reader, I suggest you go back to my earliest posts and start from there.   These are all true visions, nothing made up.  Each was disclosed to my pastor the day after they occurred.

Grace and Peace,

Does God Prefer Quiet Miracles?

Does God Prefer Quiet Miracles?

I don’t know the mind of God, of course, but it seems to me that God might prefer quiet miracles.  What is a quiet miracle?  That is one where the miracle takes place before we know the outcome in the natural.  In other words, before we know the test results, before we know the outcome of a procedure, before the final decision is made, before we know the full story, before we realize our fate is sealed.    For example, someone might have a medical procedure coming up to determine if they have some terrible illness, such as cancer.

God, of course, knows about the problem, and knows the outcome.  Predestined from the beginning of time.   But God does change His mind, I can assure you of that.  If it is His will to fix the problem through a miracle, then He can fix it before the test results come back if they are bad, and thus change the destiny He had already ordained.  He can do that!  Don’t tell Him He can’t.

The alternative for God would be to wait until the procedure is done and we learn the test results.   He can do that too.  The problem there is we have so little faith.   You’ve heard someone say,  “Well the doctor said it is incurable, so I’ll pray, but I don’t really expect to be cured”.   We have more faith in what the doctor says than in our faith in a loving God.  More faith in man’s word than in God.   Miracles don’t often happen in situations like that.  And when they do, they are messy.   Doctors begin to make excuses and cough a lot.   Somebody says they made a mistake (they are happy for it, of course).   God seldom gets the credit.

If God often waited until the test comes back, or the illness was fully progressing down an unhappy path, and then performed a sudden cure, many people would recognize His hand in it, and there would be much publicity and praise. of course.  At first thought, that would seem to promote growth in belief in Him.  However, it also tends to put God in a box, and He won’t allow it, as He demands complete control.   He seems to hand out these noisy miracles very sparingly.

For example, too  many of these types of miracles, done obviously, would define a pattern where His people begin to call on Him only when things go terribly wrong and they begin to expect a cure, even demand a cure.  Can’t you see someone laying back on a couch exclaiming “God, fix this arm for me please, and by the way, I’m out of grapes.”  So, it seems that, in His wisdom for keeping order in His Kingdom, and to promote worship even when things are good, He doesn’t answer every prayer that requires an obvious miracle, a noisy miracle.

I believe that whenever we pray to Him before the test or procedure is even required, He knows it comes from the heart and performs, through His grace, many unnoticed, quiet miracles in answer to prayers.  Fix the problem before the test is released, who’s to know?  A quiet miracle.  I think He must like that idea because I’ve seen many of them.  I always thank God for good results in my prayers, often in advance, and agree to accept the bad results with a quiet prayer that His will be done.   I always pray within God’s will.

So I recommend that we pray often and quietly.  God has good ears.  We don’t need to stand on a street corner and shout.   Pray when times are good and don’t be afraid to ask when times are bad.   He does answer prayer in noisy ways often enough.  When you see Hezekiah or Jonah, ask them.  Ask me.

It seems that He only allows us to go so far with our requests for miracles, quiet or not.  Starting with the miracle of birth, we use them up every day in countless ways we don’t know about or take time to recognize.   Sooner or later, death must come so that eternal life can begin.

Sometimes we need to accept the fact that the final miracle, physical death followed by eternal life, is the best one and rejoice!   God in His wisdom uses His power wisely.

Vision of The Battle

The Battle

Wednesday, December 24, 1997 about 2:40 A.M.

This vision was after prayers.  I had been praying in our living room, seated in a wing-back chair near my wife’s desk.  I had started my prayers late, around 1:30 A.M..   When I finished, I still had my eyes closed in the dark and was meditating.  This vision was in black and grey, with the figures highlighted in gray against a black background.

I began to see a man with a large sword standing to my right.  He was naked except for a sash-like cloth draped around his shoulder and extended down so that it was also wrapped around his waist.

He was in a defensive pose, not approaching anyone, but menacing.  He had his right arm raised and it was drawn back as if to strike with the sword he held there.  He had no armor or shield.

Other combatants began to appear.  There were others much like him, but he remained in the center of attention.  The battle raged back and forth but I could not see anyone being injured.  They did not seem to be fighting each other so much as an unseen enemy at the time.

Soon animal-like creatures appeared and it appeared that the men were fighting them.  One of the larger creatures was a lion-like animal, but with distorted features, perhaps just angry and mincing.

When the animal attacked my central figure, it stood up and was much taller than the man, including his raised sword.  The animal came down on his shoulder, but I did not see the result as he fell out of view.

About that time, I began to see something sweep across the scene from side to side above the ground.  These appeared to be angelic like images of figures, with wings swooping back and forth in the battle that continued to rage.  I began watching the swooping figures and trying to see how they looked,  but I never got a clear view.

Whenever I saw a clear view of something on the ground that might be an angel that had landed, it would turn out to be another fighting figure of a man, and when I thought he had wings, a closer look showed a flowing cloth waving in the breeze behind him, or an arm drawn way back with a sword.

Often the men were braced with one leg almost parallel to the ground behind him, and the other forward and bent, so that he was very low to the ground and striking at something as if he had tried to fall back in a bracing maneuver.

The battle faded from view and disappeared after a few minutes.  I had begun to notice that the background was getting brighter, clearing from black to grey, then it became too light to see the greyish figures of the vision.  They just faded out.  It was 3:00 A.M. when I got up.

And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back Rev 12:7 (NIV)

Vision of The Train

The Train

The following is a vision that is undated in my journal. It occurred near the beginning of November 1997, sometime after the End Times Hymn. This vision seems to be an End Time Vision of a different type than those in the Bible.  I suddenly found myself in an old steam-driven train, riding in the first passener car behind the engine.

After that, in my vision at night I looked, and there before me was a fourth beast–terrifying and frightening and very powerful. It had large iron teeth; it crushed and devoured its victims and trampled underfoot whatever was left. It was different from all the former beasts, and it had ten horns. Dan 7:7 (NIV)

It was set in the future, but not too very far. I say that because the train I was on did not look much different than those of today. In fact it was an old train by today’s standards, except it seemed unusually wide, even huge.

This train was traveling on rough rails in the dark. The entire interior was poorly lighted, and I was making my way from the back of a car toward the engine.

I had to use my hands to hold onto the seats on each side of me. When I approached the engine, I could see through a rectangular metal window and view the inside. It was pitch black except for the glow of coals showing in the firebox door, illuminating the walls, almost evil looking. The entire train had an evil feel to it and I was concerned as to where it was taking me.

I decided that I did not want to go into the engine compartment, so I went to a side door to the left, and as I did, the train stopped. I got off and noticed that there was a group of people standing in a small crowd in front of the engine on my side of the tracks.

They were praying. One of the women seemed familiar, but she was not someone that I recognized from the church. She seemed to be almost holy in appearance, she was praying so fervently. Everyone was dressed in black as if going to a funeral.

I looked across the tracks and I could see what looked like a narrow-gage rail track extending along a ridge running up a hillside that ran perpendicular to the track our train was on. The lower end of the side track terminated in a sort of overhead platform on which was setting a small cart on rails.

A very tall, shirtless man was standing on the platform above us and using a rope to attach to scrolls and books in the cart. The rope was hauling them upward and out of sight.

The hillside was glowing in places as if there were fires there, but otherwise the hillside was very dark. I began to notice large boxes being unloaded from the train and being brought forward to where we were standing.

The boxes were labeled as various books of the bible, and as they were opened, it was apparent that many of these were very ancient. Most of them were scrolls, but others were hardbound in wooden covers or thick leather. Some were ornately engraved.

“Mark”, “Luke,” “John,” “In His Own Hand.”

I suddenly realized that these people were destroying all the works of scripture and all the bibles in the world. There were boxes and crates full of bibles everywhere I looked.

I began to cry and I was deeply grieving the loss. I didn’t want to be a part of this.

The instant I realized this truth, and began to grieve, the woman that had seemed so holy turned on me and transformed into something hideous and wicked as I watched.

I realized then that she was a false witness to the proceedings and belonged to the enemy that was bent on destroying the books. These “worshipers” had been praying as a token gesture to a false god. I had the impression that the woman wanted to see my number. She kept peering at my forehead.

He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name.

This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man’s number. His number is 666.   Rev 13:16-18 (NIV)

I didn’t see any other passengers, so I may have been the last one. I know I did not have their mark; I did not have the number and she was furious. They all were.

And the smoke of their torment rises for ever and ever. There is no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and his image, or for anyone who receives the mark of his name.

This calls for patient endurance on the part of the saints who obey God’s commandments and remain faithful to Jesus. Rev 14:11-12 (NIV)

The vision then ended. I do not know how to interpret this dreamlike vision. I can only call it another signal to be prepared, the end is near! Earlier in this vision I used an passage from Daniel that brings forth an image of a train.  In the same vision of Daniel is this passage:

In the latter part of their reign, when rebels have become completely wicked, a stern-faced king, a master of intrigue, will arise. He will become very strong, but not by his own power. He will cause astounding devastation and will succeed in whatever he does. He will destroy the mighty men and the holy people.
Dan 8:23-24 (NIV)

The vision of the train appeared to be about the destruction of all references to our religion as we know it. Where they found the very old manuscripts, I don’t know. My sense was that they were destroying everything in an effort to wipe out Christianity. It was the End Times – nearer every day, as it was explained to Daniel in his vision:

The man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, lifted his right hand and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him swear by him who lives forever, saying, “It will be for a time, times and half a time.

When the power of the holy people has been finally broken, all these things will be completed.” I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked, “My lord, what will the outcome of all this be?” He replied, “Go your way, Daniel, because the words are closed up and sealed until the time of the end. Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand. Dan 12:7-10 (NIV)

Vision of The End Times Hymn

The End Times Hymn

And they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders.   No one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth.  Rev 14:3 (NIV)

In mid October 1997, I finished a book by Billy Graham titled “Storm Warning” published by Word Publishing. It is a book that casts current events as storm warnings to the storm of the Apocalypse.

Throughout his book I picked up a theme of the four horsemen of the book of Revelations and how they relate to the current events of 1992. I was impressed that many of the events that Billy Graham used in his book as signals for the end times were surpassed since then by even more powerful signals of the same kind.

The four horsemen of the apocalypse:

“I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest.” Rev 6:2 (NIV)

“Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make men slay each other. To him was given a large sword.” Rev 6:4 (NIV)

“When the Lamb opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, “Come!” I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand.”   Rev 6:5 (NIV)

“I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.”  Rev 6:8 (NIV)

These were the horsemen of the end times as seen in a vision by John and recorded in Revelations.

The first horseman was bent on conquest, and although on a white horse and wearing a crown, was not Christ as so many think, but was the great deceiver instead. The Christ Horseman is found in Revelations 19:

“I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war.” Rev 19:11 (NIV)

A few weeks later I was reading an unrelated book with the title “Experiencing God” which is a work/study book designed to help you know and do the will of God. It is published by Lifeway Press.

The book was one that my wife had picked up for me because she had been studying it as part of a women’s study class at our church, and she thought I would like it. I did. It was great.

I began to read the book and work through the exercises. After a couple of hours of reading and study, I suddenly began to hear a beautiful hymn in my head.

Angels singing.

It was as beautiful a hymn as I had ever heard. The words were almost angelic and accompanied by wonderful music. The verses were about the horsemen as they stormed the earth.

The horsemen of scripture in Revelations 6 are terrifying in their work, deceiving man, bringing war, famine and death. Yet the End Times Hymn was a hymn of praise for the horsemen’s work and to God!

It was a hymn of praise for God’s work in purifying the earth through the horsemen. It was praise for God’s sending of the horsemen as his final warnings to all of mankind about the end times.

It was also a praise for their signal for the second coming of Christ, the horseman of Revelations 19.    Each verse praised a new horseman and how he did God’s work in preparation for the great tribulation to come.

Sealed to the End Time.

Could it have been the song of Revelations 14?

And I heard a sound from heaven like the roar of rushing waters and like a loud peal of thunder.

The sound I heard was like that of harpists playing their harps. And they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders.

No one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth.
Rev 14:2-3 (NIV)

I wish I could relay the verses to you. As beautiful as they were, I have lost them! Not a single verse, not even two words put together seem to match what I heard. Yet I am still struck by the beauty of what I heard – it was euphoric to listen to the hymn.   I know the theme of the verses, but not the words.

I blame the loss on not getting up immediately and writing them down. I thought that something that beautiful would stick to me forever, much like my visions. It did not. Perhaps God has sealed it from me. Maybe they will emerge again as I pray.

I told my pastor about the hymn, and I have since tried to recover the words. I cannot. Nothing fits. Yet the words send me a message that I cannot ignore – the end is near. That theme rides in the back of my head everywhere I go. I need to warn my family and friends, and somehow reach as many of you as I can to tell you to be prepared.

That is part of the reason this work is dedicated to my family as well as to the church. My family was given draft copies as part of their Christmas gifts that year!

I want them to understand and be prepared. I want them to go with me when Jesus calls. I want you, gentle reader to be ready also.

Accept Jesus now. We don’t know how long we have. Don’t wait another moment. Kneel and accept. Repent and turn to Christ. Welcome the Holy Spirit’s call. It is more than being baptized with water; it is a need to be baptized by the Holy Spirit and be regenerated by Him.

Don’t hesitate to give yourself completely to God.  He will not likely send you on a mission that you won’t want to do.  He is good and HE LOVES YOU.  Trust Him completely.

The end times theme continues with my next vision:  The Train.
